as smoke rises above his brow

again as his teens pass,
and his twenties
still without love
or career
No need to worry he thinks,
as doctor refers him to specialist
with gaunt face and wheezing breath,
he lays on an exam bed
for a specialist who has seen these signs
all too many times before.
